2015 – 2016: The coffee barters database is developed as pilot project for Cameroon coffee farmers to improve the trading of coffee against fertiliser and school fees. A coffee farmer can issue a fertiliser loan and pay back in kind with coffee. There is an exchange conversion rate to CFA to account for the actual value of the commodities. The database is to help the farmers keep track of their sales and are now able to use this barters system to improve their business. The pilot is currently tested for one season and will be evaluated after the second season. When proven successful the database will be implemented in other countries as well.
